Veggie Bots are “a set of kitchen tools that transform boring vegetables into building blocks for toys" according to its inventor, Lee Bayless. Children put the blocks together and make creations out of their greens.So... the idea is to get kids to enjoy vegetables by making them more fun. There's online discussion from the USA about whether the Veggie Bots will help in the fight against childhood obesity. Hmmm. No, probably not. Kids are likely play with the vegetables and then just eat around them.
However, doesn't mean that the Veggie Bot wouldn't be useful for anything else! It's a fun idea. Little cars/robots/vegetable people would make awesome table decorations for branded events, particularly events promoting healthy food - it would have been quite cool to have a little veggie robot on my bench at Innocent's '5 for 5' cafe.
Also, as Fast Company suggests, it could be an interesting idea for McDonald's Happy Meals: 'the toys remain, and the kids get an extra helping of vegetables, to boot'!
