We have been ensuring that this years 'The Next Big Thing' annual competition to discover new musical talent from around the world, is a huge success. This year is especially significant for them, as they celebrating their 75th Anniversary of Broadcasting. More from BBC Press Office:

From the plains of Africa to the lava pools of Iceland – thousands of unsigned artists from 88 countries entered the BBC World Service’s global talent search. Unsigned artists submitted original music for the coveted title. After road shows in India, Jamaica, Tanzania and Turkey and a global search campaign, BBC World Service is proud to announce the five finalists of ‘Next Big Thing 2007’.

The triumphant act will then perform live alongside a world famous line-up to an audience of over 2000 people at London’s IndigO2 venue at the O2 Centre to celebrate BBC World Service’s 75th Anniversary.

Executive Producer, Simon Pitts, said, "It's a massive opportunity for international exposure. Millions of people around the world will hear the track and it could be the big break someone is looking for."

The final will be broadcast on BBC World Service on 13 December and on BBC World TV on Saturday and Sunday 22 and 23 December.
